On 24 June 2022, H.E. Ambassador Sihasak Phuangketkeow, former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Special Advisor for Foreign Affairs at the Office of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) of Thailand, together with Mr. Puwit Wisartsakul, Counsellor/Deputy Chief of Mission, and Mr. Teerakarn Savetsila, Counsellor, met with Mr. John Nielsen, Senior Analyst on Peace and Violence, and a former Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, Laos, Spain and Myanmar, and Ms. Yang Jiang, Senior Researcher on Migration and Global Order, and an expert on China at Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS). During the meeting, Ambassador Phuangketkeow shared and exchanged his views on multitude of issues including regional architecture in Asia, the dynamic relation between ASEAN and major powers, as well as the role Thailand could play in engaging with important actors in the region. He also provided the DIIS’s representatives an in-depth information on the EEC, Thailand’ special economic zone based on high technology and innovation to boost country’s competitiveness and economic growth in the region.
DIIS is an independent public research institution for international studies based in Copenhagen. The fruitful discussion at the DIIS could further enhance academic cooperation between Thailand and Denmark in interesting fields.
