On 6 May 2022 at 15.00 hrs., the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen organized a “Reforestation Volunteering Activity to Commemorate Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s 90th Birthday Anniversary on 12 August 2022” in collaboration with the Danish Nature Agency under the Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark. H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, led the Embassy’s officials, staff, and the Thai community together with their families of more than 60 people to plant 350 Oak, Birch and Aspen saplings in the Greve Skov forest area in Karlslunde, 35 km south-west of Copenhagen. The participants were warmly welcomed by Mr. Jens Nielsen, Mr. Henrik Danshøjgaard and Mr. Christian Hartmann from the Danish Nature Agency whom also demonstrated how to do the reforestation step by step.
This volunteering activity is a contribution to the public benefits by supporting the Danish reforestation project to increase green areas, control the amount of carbon dioxide, reduce global warming, protect groundwater retention, create recreational areas and increase biodiversity. It also aims to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and carry on Her Majesty’s determination to conserve the environment and natural resources. In addition, by volunteering and showing social responsibility in the country where the Thai community lives will also enhance the unity, status and dignity of the Thai community in Denmark. On this occasion, representatives of the Danish Nature Agency expressed their gratitude to the Embassy and the Thai community in which the Royal Thai Embassy is considered the first embassy to do the reforestation activity in this area. In this regard, the Embassy is very thankful to the Thai community who participated in this reforestation volunteering activity which is successfully accomplished.
