On 18 May 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen together with the Office of Agricultural Affairs of Thailand to the EU held an online meeting with Thai insects exporters regarding the export of insect products to Danish market, with participation of Mr. Thanaphum Muang-Ieam, representative from Thailand Insect Industry Association and founder of The Bricket Co. Ltd., Mrs. Rungthip Malasitthiwong, Co-founder of Protanica Co. Ltd. and Mrs. Ingkarat Thanyasiratanarom, President of the Cricket Farm Community Enterprise of Chaiyaphum Province and the founder of All bugs farm as well as Mr. Pornthep Srisanatorn, Minister and Director of the Office of Agricultural Affairs of Thailand to the EU in Brussels.

During the meeting, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark provided information about potential of insects market in Denmark as Novel Food that increasingly interests Danish consumers as an alternative source of protein as well as process of transforming insects to animal food. H.E. the Ambassador expressed willingness to assist in market access of Thai insects to Denmark by organizing seminars and business matching as well as site visit of Thai farmers to insects farms in Denmark to learn of solutions to reduce CO2 emission as well as to help disseminate information about Thai exporter’s interest and readiness to Danish relevant authorities and importers as Thailand is one of the authorised third countries that are allowed to export edible insects into the EU.
