The Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen welcomed students and teachers from the International School of Hellerup

On 20 May 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen welcomed 17 students aged 7-9 and 2 teachers, Mrs. Verónica Lynton and Mr. Stanislav Gdovin from Art and Culture Club, International School of Hellerup. H.E. Ambassador Sirilak Niyom welcomed by giving a brief history of the chancery which was built in 1916, the opening of the first Thai Embassy in Copenhagen in 1958, the long-standing relations between Thailand and Denmark which lasted for 400 years since the first trade contact in 1621 and will celebrate 165th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023. The students were further given presentation about Thailand, Thai monarchy, Thai art and culture including demonstrations of Thai traditional dance and Thai traditional music performances which piqued students’ great interests and they joined together to practice traditional Thai dance in circle or “Ram wong”. In addition, they also enjoyed playing Thai traditional games such as Mon Son Pa (Mon hiding cloth) and Pid-Ta-Tee-Mor (Blindfold pot-hitting). They were also given Thai sweets, Thai toys, and Thai tourism brochures to give to their parents in order to encourage them to visit Thailand.
