On 10 August 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen organised a charity concert "Jasmine and Blue: A Thai Mother’s Day Charity Concert" at Holmens Church, Copenhagen. The concert featured a choir of 40 middle and high school students from the Wattana Girls’ Chorus, representing Wattana Wittaya Academy, who performed a repertoire of 12 songs, including Thai classics such as "Lao Duang Duean", "Bua Khao", and a traditional "Ramwong Medley," incorporating traditional Thai instruments, namely the Klong Yao (long drum) and Ching (finger cymbals), into their performance. Over 100 guests attended the concert which included members of the Diplomatic Corps in Denmark, the "Friends of Thailand" community, and members of the Thai community.
The charitable event was held in honour of the auspicious occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, and Thailand’s National Mother’s Day. All proceeds from the sale of jasmine brooches and jasmine-inspired products will be donated to the National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand Under the Royal Patronage (NCSWT) to support its ongoing charitable initiatives.
In her opening remarks, H.E. Mrs. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, highlighted the significance of Thai Mother’s Day and paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. The Ambassador underscored Her Majesty’s royal patronage of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra (RBSO) in advancing classical music in Thailand, as well as her visionary work through the SUPPORT Foundation, which has empowered rural mothers, preserved traditional Thai arts, and fostered sustainable livelihoods.
The event was a remarkable success in promoting Thai identity, cultural heritage, and traditions, particularly the deep-seated Thai value of gratitude toward mothers, while highlighting the impressive international talent of young Thai vocalists. On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy extends its warmest congratulations to the Wattana Girls' Chorus for winning two Silver Medals at the World Choir Games 2026 in Helsingborg, Sweden. The Royal Thai Embassy also wishes to express its sincere appreciation to all guests and supporters who contributed to this meaningful event.
