On 11 December 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen organized friendly activities to promote Thai culture to around 30 pupils and teachers at Sunrise International Preschool in Hellerup, Copenhagen, in which Mr. Puwit Wisartsakul, Deputy Head of Mission/Counsellor, together with Embassy’s staffs, presented fun facts about Thailand, Thai traditions and culture in a fun and easy-to-understand format suitable for all ages e.g. “Wai” or the Thai way of greetings, saying hello and thank you in Thai language, Thai food, Thai fruits, Thai desserts, beautiful Thai tourist attractions, tuk tuks (Thai iconic three-wheelers) and Thai elephants in Copenhagen Zoo and invited children, parents and teachers to visit the said Thai elephants, try Thai food at Thai restaurants in Denmark and visit Thailand.

Another highlight of this activity is the presentation of the “Loy Krathong” festival, in which people float little buoyant, decorated basket to thank the goddess of water and river, as an example of Thai culture that has existed for a long time. The children were taught the English version of the Loy Krathong song as well as singing and dancing with the song together. The Embassy also brought banana leaf krathongs for the children to float and told the children about the innovation of online krathongs and eco-friendly krathongs using natural materials to build awareness of environmental conservation as well as demonstrating how to make a simple krathong for the children to use their creativity to make their own krathongs by painting and cutting papers. Both the children and teachers very much enjoyed learning Thai culture and exposing to new experiences. The school was impressed and expressed hope that they would be able to organize activities with the Royal Thai Embassy again in the near future.
