On Saturday 14 June 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, together with Team Thailand and Thai community in Denmark, organized the Thai Festival 2025: Creative Pulse, Pulse of Tradition, Pusle of Tomorrow at Copenhagen’s City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event was a tremendous success as a result of a coordinated effort of every party involved, drawing approximately 50,000 participants which included Danes, foreign tourists, and Thais residing in Denmark. The Festival brings to life the colorful traditions of Thailand, the vibrant culture and warmth of the people.

H.E. Mrs. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark and Mr. Thomas Lehmann, Director of EU Presidency Operations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, jointly presided over the opening ceremony of the event. In her welcoming statement, the Ambassador remarked on the 167 years of close diplomatic ties between Thailand and Denmark, and underlined the ongoing excellent relationship at the people-to-people level. She highlighted the new theme of this year’s Thai Festival which would showcase the traditional side of Thailand together with its more modern aspects thorough 3 major elements, sport (Muay Thai), Thai food, and Thai music. The Ambassador then ended her remarks emphasizing the importance of the Festival to the Thai community.

Mr. Thomas Lehmann, as the Guest of Honor, reiterated the close relation between Denmark and Thailand, at both the government and people levels, and the favourable opinions of Danes on traveling to Thailand, Thai food, and beautiful Thai culture. He viewed the event as a bridge connecting the two countries and highlighted many similarities between Danes and Thais by comparing the Danish concept of “Hygge” and “Sabai Sabai” (relaxing) Thai mentality.

For the first element, sport, the Thai Trade Center of Copenhagen invited “Superbon”, a former featherweight kick boxing champion of ONE championship, showed his skills at the Festival as main attractions. “Superbon” led a Muay Thai demonstration with volunteers of all ages and genders from the crowd. This demonstrated that Muay Thai is accessible to all, as a fitness regimen and exercise routine, going beyond just a combat sport. Products related to Muay Thai were also displayed at the Center’s booth. Moreover, the Center, in collaboration with the Embassy, organized Thai food cooking demonstrations by chefs from “Thai Select” restaurants in Denmark, namely LumLum, Ranee’s, and Wokshop. The demonstrations utilized Thai ingredients sold in Denmark to promote Thai food and products.

As for performances this year, the audience enjoyed a variety of live traditional and modern Thai music from Thai bands and DJ in Denmark. Performers both from the local Thai community and Thailand performed Khon (Thai masked dance), and Thai traditional dances to entertain the crowd. A unique demonstration of “Thai Warrior Massage”, a lesser-known type of traditional Thai massage, made its debut at the Festival. Traditional performances combined with modern live music created one of a kind and mesmerizing show for all participants of the Festival, such as a live modern pop song with a Khon performance.

As for the food, there were almost 30 booths of Thai entrepreneurs, selling authentic Thai food, fruits and beverages. The booth of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Stockholm Office, offered information of tourist destinations, and an opportunity to take photos in a photo booths with backgrounds from those destinations for free. The booth of Thai Airways provided information on its direct flights to Thailand and had activities to win small prizes. Lastly, a kid’s corner led by members of the Thai Students and Alumni Association in Denmark (TSAAD) provided activities for children and their parents to learn more about Thailand, such as how to make a Thai-style fish mobile from recycled paper.

The Embassy’s booth focused on promoting Thai products and drinks. Thai drinks which included soy milk drink (original flavor, with basil seeds, or with pandan jelly), Dragon Blood tea, and monk fruit drink, were also being sold. Guest also enjoyed getting dressed in Pha-Kow-Mah (Thai traditional checkered cloths) and Saa-Bai (Thai traditional breast cloth for women). Free tasting of ripe mangoes and juicy mangosteens were also offered.

The main highlight of this year event was the lucky draw with many exceptional prizes, including 2 Copenhagen-Bangkok round-trip plane tickets, an accommodation voucher from TAT, 3 accommodation vouchers from La Vida Samui, an accommodation voucher from Baan Veanglhek in Ayudhaya province, and VIP tickets from Rajadamnern Muay Thai Stadium in Bangkok. Other wonderful prizes were also sponsored by businesses selling Thai products in Denmark, namely KFT and Sunlee (Thai Shop), Danish companies operating in Thailand, namely Pandora, ECCO, and Royal Copenhagen, and ILLUM, a Thai-owned department store owned.

The Royal Thai Embassy sincerely appreciates all the support received from all concerned which contributed to the success of this event namely, Copenhagen Municipality, Thai Trade Center, TAT, Thai Airways, all the performers, musicians, bands and DJs from Denmark and Thailand, Thai volunteer nurses, TSAAD, all sponsors, all participating shops and all Thai communities who have contributed to this Thai Festival.
