On 7 September 2023, Ambassador Sirilak Niyom, chaired the meeting of Team Thailand Committee of the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen at the Ambassador's Residence. The committee comprised the Minister (Agricultural affairs) in Brussels, the Minister (Economic and Financial affairs) in London, the Minister (Customs) in Brussels, the Minister-Counselor (Science and Technology) in Brussels, the Minister-Counsellor (Investment) in Stockholm, the Minister-Counsellor (Industrial affairs) in Vienna, the Minister-Counsellor (Commercial affairs) in Copenhagen, the Minister-Counsellor (Commercial affairs) in Warsaw, the Naval Attache in London, the Air Attache in Stockholm, the Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Stockholm Office and diplomats of the Royal Thai Embassy.
Her Excellency the Ambassador informed the Team Thailand of the overall situation in various aspects in Denmark, discussed and exchanged views on ways to promote cooperation between Thailand, Denmark and Lithuania in various sectors. The meeting also acknowledged accomplishments of missions carrying out by each agency in the fiscal year 2023 as well as plans, projects and guidelines to streamline cooperation between agencies in the fiscal year 2024 to further enhance relations with Denmark and Lithuania. After the meeting, the Ambassador hosted lunch for the Team Thailand.
On the occasion of Copenhagen being selected as the World Capital of Architecture in 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy led the Team Thailand participants to study architecture for sustainability at the ‘UN City’ in Copenhagen. Mr. Flemming Johannesen, Head of UN City Communications, welcomed the delegation and took them on a tour of the UN City building, which currently houses the offices of 11 UN agencies (UNDP, UNEP, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNIDO, UNOPS, UN Women, WFP, WHO and IOM). The building is unique in its designed, outstanding in sustainability by using natural light as much as possible. Rainwater is collected and stored for usage inside the building. The roof is white and made from recycled plant material that reflects sunlight to regulate the temperature inside the building. Solar panels are also installed as renewable energy for the building.
Afterwards, the Team Thailand participants went on a study tour to the ‘Copenhagen Hill’, where they were welcomed by Mr. Alexander Ringling. He briefed the group on the special architectural features of the Copenhagen Hill which is a pollution-free energy-from-waste factory with innovation and modern technology, making the wastewater treatment system and energy production process that have no impact on the environment. At the same time, the roof area and surroundings are designed to be green areas for recreation, hiking trails, ski trails and walls climbing. It becomes a popular recreational destination as well as a landmark of Copenhagen's low-carbon and sustainable urbanism.
