On 23 August 2022, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark participated in “Amazing Thailand New Chapters Road Show to Nordic & Baltic 2022” at Radisson Blu Hotel in Copenhagen, which was organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Stockholm office led by Mrs. Titiporn Manenate, TAT Executive Director for Europe, Africa and Middle East Region, Ms. Denduan Leungcheng, Director of Marketing Division for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and Mrs. Orn Doungchan, TAT’s Director for the Nordic and Baltic countries, Stockholm Office. Thai Airways’ representatives, tour operators from Thailand and Denmark as well as the Danish media also participated in the event.
The event was organised with an objective to stimulate the Nordic markets and create business opportunities for Thai tour operators by arranging 18 Thai entrepreneurs to meet with more than 20 leading travel agencies from Denmark and the Nordic and Baltic countries, as well as to present tourist attractions in Thailand and promote meaningful tourism to create an awareness and boost tourism in the Danish and Nordic/Baltic countries’ markets.
On this occasion, Her Excellency the Ambassador welcomed participants by highlighting Thailand as the world's leading tourist destination, which has continuously been awarded and ranked by many international travel organizations and websites. Her Excellency the Ambassador also emphasized the Thai Government’s policy which promotes a sustainable and responsible tourism and a revitalization of the tourism sector by using Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model, as guideline of tourism promotion and economic recovery in the post COVID-19 pandemic as well as an improvement of VISA regulation to facilitate tourists staying in Thailand for a longer period. Hence, foreigners from countries with visa exemption like Denmark will be able to stay in Thailand for 45 days, up from 30 days, from 1 October 2022 until 31 March 2023.
Her Excellency the Ambassador also highlighted the strength of Thailand as a regional hub that will connect the transport infrastructure among 3 major airports in the Eastern Economic Corridor and as a gateway to Asia which can facilitate travelers as well as being the world’s leading final destination for international conferences. This year, Thailand, as the host of APEC 2022, will push forward APEC policy recommendations on regenerative tourism. These developments show that Thailand’s tourism industry is resilient and ready to fully welcome tourists from all over the world.
In addition, Her Excellency the Ambassador also presented prizes to the lucky winners who won the prize of accommodation in Thailand, which were 4 Danish tour operators and a Danish media.
Since the beginning of 2022, there have been around 2 million visitors to Thailand, with a target of 7 million visitors by the end of this year and around 30 million visitors next year.
