The Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, in collaboration with the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand, organised workshops on relevant Thai and Danish law for the Thai community in Denmark on 26–27 September 2026, aiming to strengthen Thai nationals’ understanding of Thai law while living abroad. Mr. Kosonlavat Intujunyong, Director-General of the Department of Rights Protection and Legal Aid at the Office of the Attorney General, travelled to Denmark to lead the sessions and provide legal advice to participants. Mr. Kosonlavat previously served as Director of the Office of Affairs and Projects under the Initiatives of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha.

The first session took place on Saturday, 26 September at the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen and drew about 70 people from Copenhagen and the surrounding area. On 27 September, which ran alongside the Embassy’s mobile consular service in Aalborg, attracted about 40 people from Aalborg and northern Jutland.

Mr. Kosonlavat provided guidance on legal issues commonly encountered by Thai nationals living abroad, including military conscription, land and inheritance, family law, child custody, adoption, labour rights, and legal matters relating to residence abroad. Participants were also given the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice directly. At the Copenhagen session, Mr. Flemming Rasmussen, attorney and partner at Machenhauer Nielsen, also joined and provided guidance on relevant aspects of Danish law.

H.E. Mrs. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, delivered the Opening Remarks at both sessions. She emphasised that the Embassy’s responsibilities extend beyond promoting Thailand–Denmark relations to include supporting the Thai community, helping its members lead secure lives, understand their rights and responsibilities, and acquire the legal knowledge needed to protect themselves, their families and their property, enabling them to live well while residing abroad.
