On 8 March 2024, Mr. Puwit Wisartsakul, Chargé d' Affaires a.i., attended the Open House at Maeng-Ho Roskilde Muay Thai Gym in Roskilde, Denmark, organized by Mr. Hans Emil Olesen, President of Danish Muay Thai Federation, to provide an opportunity for girls aged 12-17 years to try Muay Thai training at no cost in order to celebrate the “International Women's Day” and to promote Muay Thai, especially among young people living in Denmark.
On this occasion, the Chargé d' Affaires a.i. expressed his support and congratulations on the event which is dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and empowerment of young women through Muay Thai training which is Thailand’s national sport and martial art well known to the world. Not only that Muay Thai training can enhance physical and mental health, but is also a good way to practice meditation, endurance, strength, discipline, sportsmanship and the respect for others. Moreover, it is also a martial art that is beneficial to people of all genders and ages and an opportunity to learn Thai customs and culture. The young participants are grateful that Muay Thai helped them gain more confidence. It also provided them opportunity to meet new friends and have useful activities after school as well as create unity in the community.
On such occasion, the Chargé d' Affaires a.i. also presented an elephant keychain, a symbolic animal of Thailand that represents power and strength, in which the Embassy has made on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the first contact between Thailand and Denmark as a memento for the youths and Muay Thai trainers.
