On 4 September 2022, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, along with Mr. Theerakun Niyom, Ambassador’s spouse, hosted a dinner at the Ambassador's Residence to welcome young Thai artists from Moradokmai (New Heritage) Theatre Community led by Mr. Janaprakul Chandruang or “Kru Chang”, a Thai national artist. The troupe traveled to perform Thai dance, music and drama in Denmark during 4-12 September 2022. The Royal Thai Embassy organized activities for them to perform in the following places:
On 5 September 2022, the troupe paid a visit to the Royal Danish Ballet School at the Royal Danish Theatre, and welcomed by the school's artistic director, Mrs. Anne Peyk. The young Thai artists troupe demonstrated Khon dance’s moves, the traditional Thai masked dance, to approximately 70 male and female ballet students who attended the activity and tried practicing Thai Khon Dance. The troupe then attended rehearsals by young ballet dancers and visited the Royal Danish Theatre. Mrs. Anne Peyk complimented and expressed her appreciation to the troupe for exchanging cultural learning with the students of the Royal Danish Ballet School.
On 6 September 2022, the young Thai artists troupe showed their talents at the reception on occasion of 60th Anniversary of the Arrival of Thai Elephant in Denmark at the Copenhagen Zoo. In addition to performing Thai traditional dance for participants, the troupe also performed Thai music with a saxophonist Mr. Jakob Dinesen and a famous Danish singer Mrs. Yasmin Kierkegaard who were invited as guests at the reception and attested to the talents of young Thai artists so they joined the show. The performers were able to showcase their musical talents by playing Thai instruments with jazz saxophone improvised and received great admiration from the guests at the reception.
On 7 September 202, the young Thai artists troupe visited the International School of Hellerup and performed a musical play in English called “An adventure of a boy from a golden conch” for approximately 60 schoolchildren between the ages of 4 - 9 years as well as their teachers. The schoolchildren learned about the arts of Thai drama and had fun with the performances. The teachers expressed their appreciation to the Royal Thai Embassy for bringing together Thai cultural performers to disseminate knowledge and experiences with their schoolchildren.
Besides the above-mentioned activities, the young Thai artists from Moradokmai Theatre Community also demonstrated the art of Thai dance to Thai-Danish students of Rak Thai School under Rak Thai Forening Association in Copenhagen and also traveled to perform for Thai communities in Aarhus, Fredericia and Brovst.
Moradokmai Theatre Community is founded by Mr. Janaprakul Chandruang as a non-profit home school which brings underprivileged children but talented in arts, music and theatre from different provinces to learn various fields of knowledges and put their skills into practice by using art as teaching instruments and allowing students to freely study under the sufficiency economy and self-reliance management system.
