On 27 April 2023, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, along with Mr. Jaya Patrachai, Counsellor, visited and learned about water pumps technology and innovation at the headquarter of Grundfos in Bjerringbro in Jutland region. Mr. Kenth Hvid Nielsen, Regional Executive Director welcomed the delegation and led to site visit the company's head office, including the Grundfos museum showing the history of the company's founding and evolution, products exhibition building which showcase water pumpd used in factories, high-rise buildings and households, and the training center for company's employees.
On such occasions, Her Excellency the Ambassador discussed and exchanged views with Mr. Nielsen regarding trade and investment opportunities of the company in the Asia-Pacific region, political and economic situation in Thailand and investment promotion in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) of Thailand in collaboration with the Danish-Thai Business Network (Dan Thai Net). The Ambassador also informed Mr. Nielsen of Thailand’s candidature to host the EXPO-2028 in Phuket. The company is very interested in exhibiting its innovative products that promote the green transition and climate impact mitigation at the EXPO-2028 in Phuket, as well as opportunity to participate in the development of the smart city of Phuket.
Founded in 1945 in Denmark by Poul Due Jensen, Grundfos is one of the world's largest manufacturers of water pumps. The company employs more than 19,000 people in 50 countries around the world. At the company's headquarters in Bjerringbro with a population of about 9,000, more than 4,500 persons are employed by Grundfos. The company has a production capacity of 16 million units of water pumps per year, using high technology production in the form of smart and intelligent water pumps which help save water and are environmentally friendly. The company has established sale office in Thailand since 1993, which are currently in Bangkok and Phuket with more than 100 employees in Thailand.
In Thailand, there are projects that use Grundfos water pumps, such as Mahanakhon Building, the tallest skyscraper in Thailand, and the project One Bangkok. In addition, the company's restaurant also has a Thai chef who cooks for the company's employees at the headquarter.
