On 2 October 2024, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, hosted a dinner in honour of Mr. Hans Natorp, President of the National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark (DIF). The dinner was attended by Mr. Kristian Langbak, CEO of Badminton Denmark, Mr. Hans Emil Olesen, President of the Danish Muay Thai Federation, Mr. Kim Bach, Finance Manager of the Danish Muay Thai Federation, Mr. Nikolaj Storgaard Mortensen, Director of the Muay Thai series Alt Er Tilladt, Ms. Nitchaporn Varnapruk, Director of the Thai Trade Center Nordic in Copenhagen, and officials of the Royal Thai Embassy.
On such occasion, The Ambassador mentioned the importance of sports in connecting people around the world, which is the firm foundation of good relations between countries. She is pleased that Thailand and Denmark have close cooperation in sports, especially in badminton. Thai badminton team travel to Denmark for the competition in VICTOR Open in Odense every year. She took this opportunity to congratulate the Badminton Danmark for winning a gold medal in the men's single category at the Paris Olympics last July. In addition, the Ambassador mentioned the popularity of Muay Thai as practiced sport in Denmark. There are many Muay Thai training camps across the country. She expressed hope that the Danish Muay Thai Federation will receive full support and recognition from the DIF, as other practiced sports in Denmark.
