On December 12, 2023, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark hosted a dinner for Danish officials in food and agriculture sector. The attendees included Mr. Troels Venslid, Director of the Danish Veterinary and Food Authority (DVFA), representatives from the Danish Agriculture and Food Council (DAFC) namely Mr. Jan Laustsen, Director, and Mr. Jeppe Søndergaard Pedersen, International Chief Advisor, representatives from Dalum Agricultural Business College namely Mr. Carsten Friis Poulsen, Head of International Division, Mr. Niels Erik Jespersen and Ms. Marianne Kyed, lecturers, as well as Ms. Mette Camilla Storgaard, representative from the Danish Travel to Farm office.
On such occasion, Her Excellency the Ambassador thanked the Danish side for their cooperation and support in the development of livestock and agriculture in Thailand by sharing knowledge and technology to improve production efficiency and sustainability. This is considered the strongest and most successful area of cooperation between Thailand and Denmark over the past six decades. The Ambassador expressed hope that such collaboration will be further strengthened and continued in 2024 with the exchange of visits from relevant Thai agencies to Denmark to build on the results of activities that both sides have carried out together in 2023.
The Danish representatives welcomed the progress in food cooperation, livestock and agriculture with the Thai side and expressed readiness to support the development of Thai agriculture by sharing Danish expertise and knowledge to help increase productivity and efficiency. This includes such as cooperation with the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization (DPO) of Thailand in promoting efficiency of Thai school milk project and expansion of business with leading food production companies in Thailand. They also expressed readiness to welcome delegations from the Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) to study visit in Denmark in 2024, and to continually encourage Thai students from Thai agricultural colleges to intern on Danish livestock farms.
