On 19 August 2023, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, welcomed at the Thai Residence a delegation of the frontier research group on carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS Frontier Research Group), Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University on the occasion of a study visit on carbon dioxide capture and storage in Denmark. The delegation consists of faculty members and researchers from the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, representatives from state agencies such as the Department of Mineral Fuels (Ministry of Energy), Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Office of the Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) as well as representatives from the private sector, namely Siam Cement Group (SCG) and Dexon Technology PCL. The delegation also went on study trips which they could learn about carbon dioxide utilization research at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and the Greensand Project, a project of carbon capture and storage in the former oil field in the North Sea which is known as “Co2 graveyard”.
On this occasion, Her Excellency the Ambassador discussed with the delegation on further cooperation between Thailand with the DTU and the Greensand Project so as to support Thailand as a center for carbon dioxide capture, storage, and utilization in the Southeast Asia.
