Ambassador of Thailand to Lithuania with residence in Copenhagen met with Director for Indo-Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, and Head of the Group for Inter-parliamentary Relations with ASEAN, Lithuanian Parliament

On 29 September 2023, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Lithuania with residence in Copenhagen, met with Mr. Julius Pranevičius, Director for Indo-Pacific, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen relations between Thailand and Lithuania. H.E. the Ambassador informed the Director for Indo-Pacific on the policies of the new Thai government that emphasize proactive economic policy, opening the free trade market and promoting the digital economy. This is in line with Lithuania’s Indo-Pacific strategy to seek new markets with countries in the Indo-Pacific region. She stressed that Thailand is a potential market for Lithuania as it is the second largest economy in ASEAN and is an important logistics hub in the region. Both sides agreed to expand cooperation in life sciences, medical technology, digital technology, FinTech, cyber security and promoting people-to-people relations through tourism and culture as well as organizing activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On the same day H.E. the Ambassador also met with Mr. Vilius Semeška, Member of the Lithuanian Parliament and Head of the Group for Inter-parliamentary Relations with ASEAN, where both sides discussed the establishment of the Thai-Lithuanian Parliamentary Friendship Group of Thailand and the Group for Lithuania's Inter-parliamentary Relations with ASEAN including opportunities to promote cooperation and exchange visits between the Inter-parliamentary Friendship Groups of the two countries to strengthen the relationship between each other even more closely.
