Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark presided over the opening ceremony of Watpa Ribe Thai – Dansk in Ribe

On 27th August 2023, H.E. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, together with Mr. Teerakarn Savetsila, Consul, and his spouse, as well as the Embassy staff, participated in an opening ceremony of Watpa Ribe Thai - Dansk in Ribe. For the ceremony, Phra Khru Phinetsasanakhun, Abbot of Watpa Copenhagen, served as the Chair of the Sangha and was joined by the monks from Buddhist temples in Denmark, and Norway. Mr. Alex Fritz Sorensen, Member of the City Council of Esbjerg, and his spouse, also joined the ceremony as the honorary guests. In this occasion, the Ambassador lit candles and incents to pay respect to the Trirattana (the Buddha, the Dhamma, the Sangha), joined the prayers, gave offerings and alms to the monks, and participated in the sign–opening ceremony together with the Thai community.

After the ceremony concluded, the Ambassador addressed members of the Thai community to congratulate the official opening of the temple, which would become a heart and a symbol of unity of the Thai community in the city of Esbjerg and the surrounding area. The Ambassador also took the opportunity to express thanks to Mr. Sorensen for his support of the activities of Thai community, which was an active community who contributed greatly to the city. In the same occasion, Mr. Sorensen also gave a speech to thanks the Thai community for the honor of inviting him and his spouse to their first temple opening ceremony, and congratulate the Thai community which remained a united international community that continuously contributed positive impact to Esbjerg Municipality.

Later, the Ambassador joined Mr, Sorensen and his spouse for lunch, and conversed with them about Thai communities in Denmark, and the important role of Thai Temples. She then gave them a set of books regarding Thailand as souvenirs.

In this occasion, the Embassy also provide a consular consultation service to members of the Thai community at the Temple.
