On 10th May 2023, H.E. Ms. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, met and conversed with H.E. Mr. Høgni Hoydal, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Industry, and Trade of Faroe Islands during the reception hosted by the Representation of the Faroe Islands in Copenhagen. In this occasion, the Ambassador informed the Foreign Minister about approximately 200 Thai nationals who resided in Faroe Islands and mostly worked in the service industry, namely at hotels and restaurants, as well as seafood factories. In this connection, the Ambassador hoped that the government of Faroe Islands will continue to provide support for the Thai community. Mr. Hoydal, in turn, stated that Thai nationals have always been welcomed on the Islands. Additionally, he also reiterated that the Thai community lived peacefully with others and has contributed greatly to the economy of the islands. The government of the Faroe Islands, therefore, stands ready to provide supports for the Thai community who live in the islands.
Faroe Island is a group of islands situated in the north of the Atlantic Ocean. With the area of 1,399 square kilometres, the Islands is a self-governed territory under the Kingdom of Denmark with a population of 54,000. Tórshavn is the capital city of the islands and also the largest city. Faroes Island relies on its fishing industry as the backbone of the economy. Moreover, the Islands are also famous for their exquisite natural sceneries.
