On 3 February 2024, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, and Mr. Theerakun Niyom, her spouse, hosted a Thai luncheon for Friends of Thailand which included Ms. Lise Dencker-Nielsen, spouse of Mr. Carsten Dencker-Nielsen, former Honorary Consul-General of Thailand in Copenhagen, along with Ms. Nina Dencker-Nielsen, her daughter, and Mr. Claus Thomsen, son of Mr. Ib Thomsen, former Honorary Consul-General of Thailand in Hvide Sande, Jutland, Denmark, at the Thai Ambassador’s Residence. Participants also included Mrs. Ulla Birkmann, former secretary of a number of Thai Ambassadors to Denmark, and Mr. Erik Birkmann, her spouse, as well as Mr. Puwit Wisartsakul, Deputy Head of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy.

Mr. Carsten Dencker-Nielsen had served as Honorary Consul-General of Thailand in Copenhagen from 1999 until his passing in 2019 while Mr. Ib Thomsen had served as Honorary Consul-General of Thailand in Hvide Sande from 2000 until his passing in 2014. The two former Honorary Consuls-General played an instrumental role in fostering closer people-to-people relations between Thailand and Denmark and supporting the Embassy’s various activities in Denmark throughout their tenure. The two were the last Honorary Consuls-General of Thailand to Denmark.
