On 23 March 2022 H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark led Mr. Sompong Sanguanbun, Advisor of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and Dr. Sethapan Krajangwongs, Minister Counsellor (Higher Education and Science) to the EU to meet with Ms. Lise Walbom, CEO, and Ms. Kristin Holme, Senior Project Manager of Food Nation to exchange views on promoting sustainable agricultural cooperation between Thailand and Denmark. The Thai delegation was briefed on the use of various technologies and innovations in the Danish food industry to increase productivity and quality, while reducing CO2 in production process, the solutions of which Thailand can learn and apply to its food and agricultural sectors. Currently, Thailand is moving toward modern agriculture driven by advanced technology and innovation under the Bio-circular-green (BCG) economic model.
The Thai delegation also met with Mr. Jan Laustsen, Director of Trade and Market Relations of the Danish Agriculture & Food Council (DAFC) and discussed ways to expand agricultural cooperation between Thailand and Denmark particularly after the signing of the MOU on cooperation in dairy on 24 January 2022 which serves as a framework for cooperation in modern farm management that could help add values to the Thai dairy products. Both sides also discussed opportunities to find potential partners to expand markets for Thai novel food such as insect-based products which are becoming modern gastronomy in Denmark, as well as exchange of high-level visits to boost trade and investment in food and agricultural technologies between the two countries.
