On 15 July 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen hosted a dinner for the Board of Directors of EGAT International Co.,Ltd. (EGATi), led by Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Chairman of Board of Directors and Governor of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), together with members of the board and Executives from the energy sector such as Mr. Kiattikhun Chartprasert, former Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Mr. Roengchai Khongthong, Advisor to the Minister of Energy of Thailand, and Ms. Choosri Kietkajornkul, CEO RATCH Group PCL. The delegation was on a study visit to Copenhagen Electricity Company’s offshore wind farm at Middelgrunden and to Siemens Gamesa’s Brande Hydrogen pilot project site in Brande, Jutland which is the world’s first project capable of producing green hydrogen directly from wind. EGATi has a business plan to invest more on renewable energy and will bring back the findings of the visit to discuss with the EGATi’s Business Development Department for potential cooperation with Denmark in the future. Currently Denmark uses renewable energy to generate about 70% of its electricity, mainly using wind energy and aims to generate 100% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030. The Thai government is also aiming to increase the production of electricity from renewable energy (currently about 10%) which will help drive the government’s BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) economic model towards sustainable development.
