On 11 January 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy organized an orientation for Thai Au Pairs on related rules and regulations and how to adjust to life in Denmark. The Embassy invited representatives from Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (Styrelsen for International Rekruttering og Integration - SIRI), Thai Nurses Association in Denmark, and Thai Students and Alumni Association in Denmark (TSAAD) to provide important information on the rights and duties of Au Pairs, healthcare system in Denmark, and the integration into Danish society, respectively. The orientation was moderated by Mr. Teerakarn Savetsila, Consul of the Embassy. The Thai Au Pairs who participated in the orientation also discussed and exchanged information with each representative on various topics of their interests.
In this occasion, Mr. Puwit Wisartsakul, Chargé d'Affaires a.i., gave an opening remark highlighting the objectives of the orientation which were to provide correct information for Thai Au Pairs regarding their duties, related rules and regulations, as well as the integration into the Danish society, its culture and values. He also emphasized the importance of proper treatments between Au Pairs and host families based on the existing Au Pair regulations and standard practiced worldwide. In the case of mistreatment by the host families, the Thai Au Pairs can always seek assistance from the Embassy and SIRI immediately.
Additionally, the Chargé d'Affaires encouraged the Thai Au Pairs, as representatives of Thailand, to take this opportunity to learn and exchange culture with their host families as well as to promote Thai culture and traditions, Thai tourism and all the charms of Thailand whether it is Thai food, Thai dance or Thai music, etc. according to each individual talents and capability. It is also a good opportunity to bring back knowledge, experience and the advancement of Denmark to Thailand which would greatly benefit the development of the country as well as their future careers. The Embassy stands ready to bridge the Thai Au Pairs with the Danish authorities and many Thai associations in Denmark.
The Au Pair scheme in Denmark is a cultural exchange program for foreigners with the objectives to gain experiences of living with Danish host families while taking care of the children and doing chores as well as to learn more about Danish culture. The Au Pairs can stay in Denmark up to 2 years.
