On 3 November 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen organised a pre-screening event titled “An Evening of Thai Film & Pride” to celebrate the premiere screening of HEALS at Empire Bio cinema in Copenhagen.
The event aimed to promote Thailand's creative and film industries on the international stage while fostering diversity, acceptance of differences, and cultural exchange between Thailand and Denmark. This gathering was held on the occasion of the Thai documentary film "HEALS" being selected for inclusion in the MIX COPENHAGEN LGBTQIA+ Film Festival 2026, taking place from 30 October to 8 November 2026 in Copenhagen.
On this occasion, H.E. Mrs. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, delivered the opening remarks emphasising Thailand’s significant progress in promoting human rights and equality. She praised the landmark Marriage Equality Act, which officially came into force in January 2025, making Thailand the first nation in Southeast Asia to legally recognise equal marriage for all genders, a monumental achievement resulting from years of dedicated advocacy across all sectors of society.
Furthermore, the Ambassador highlighted Thailand’s candidature to host Bangkok WorldPride 2030 under the theme "Until All of Us Are Free," as well as Thailand’s term as an elected member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for 2025–2027, reflecting Thailand's steadfast commitment to advancing human rights, equality, and diversity globally.
Prior to the premiere screening of "HEALS," the Embassy hosted a special pre-screening performance by DJ Sak Denmark and team, followed by a networking reception for guests interested in Thai LGBTQIA+ documentary films. Supported by both the local Thai community and international attendees in Denmark, the reception provided a venue for dialogue. The Ambassador also expressed her appreciation to the organizers of the MIX Copenhagen Film Festival for selecting "HEALS" as part of this year's LGBTQIA+ film screenings.
Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Pailin Wedel, the documentary film "HEALS" follows the life of Panpan Narkprasert, widely known as Pangina Heals, an internationally acclaimed Thai drag artist. The film explores themes of self-discovery, family relationships, overcoming adversity, and using drag performance as a medium for self-expression and emotional healing, reflecting the transformative power of art in cultivating mutual understanding and acceptance.
This event forms part of the Royal Thai Embassy’s ongoing efforts to advance cultural diplomacy through Thai films, music, arts, and cuisine, aimed at enhancing Thailand's positive image in Denmark, showcasing Thai creative talents internationally, and championing the core values of diversity, equality, and mutual respect.
