On 27 January 2023, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, and Miss Nitchaporn Varnapruk, Director of the Thai Trade Center Nordic in Copenhagen, granted Thai Select Award to the Thai restaurant Poon Chai in Copenhagen which was chosen based on the Thai Select standards of the Ministry of Commerce, which include at least 80% of the restaurant’s menu is comprised of Thai cuisine, Thai standards cooking process, use of raw Thai materials and ingredients, good taste and high quality of food, as well as beautiful decoration and good service.

Her Excellency the Ambassador congratulated the Thai restaurant Poon Chai for 16 years’ operation in Copenhagen. Thai restaurants play significant role in advancing the “Thai Kitchen of the World” policy which aims to promote global popularity of Thai food given that Thailand is the world's food production base with international quality and standards. Most importantly, Thai food must have authentic Thai taste, which is the charm and uniqueness of Thai cuisine. In Copenhagen, there are Thai restaurants that have received Thai Select Award such as Blue Elephant, Khun Juk Oriental, Baan Thai Isarn, Ban Gaw, Ranee's, Satang Thai Bistro, as well as several branches of Wok and Wokshop.
