H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua of Thailand, then H.R.H. Crown Prince of Thailand, paid an official visit to Denmark at the invitation of H.M. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark during 13 – 16 September 1988. The visit to Denmark was warmly received by the Danish side. Upon arrival at Kastrup airport in Copenhagen, H.R.H. Crown Prince of Thailand was welcomed by H.R.H. Prince Joachim, as representative of H.M. Queen Margrethe II and H.R.H. Prince Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark. He was also invited to a luncheon and a banquet hosted by H.M. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, H.R.H Prince Henrik, Prince Consort of Denmark and members of the Danish royal family at Fredensborg Palace.

In addition, H.R.H. Crown Prince of Thailand also visited many historical sites as well as prominent enterprises and organizations in Denmark, such as Kronborg Castle, Storno Company’s head office, which produced Danish communication radios, the East Asiatic Company, and the Danish Institute of Oceanography. H.R.H. Crown Prince of Thailand also travelled to Jutland by helicopter to observe NATO military operations training and concluded his visit by granting an audience to Thai citizens living in Denmark at Hotel Scandinavia.
