On 25July 2023, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, welcomed at the Royal Thai Embassy the executives from Thai universities who came to Denmark for academic cooperation and evaluation of Thai students participating in the Lions Clubs International Youth Camp and Exchange Denmark 2023 (YCE 2023), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pramuk Unahalekhaka, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Akera Ratchavieng ,Vice President of Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, Ass. Prof. Dr. Anirut Satiman, Chair of Ph.D. Program of Faculty of Education, Silpakorn University, together with Mr. Søren G. Klingemann, President of Lions Club Karlslunde, Asst. Prof. Opa Ying Heng and Dr. Naraya Sirapanuwat, YCE 2023 Coordinators, who also joined the delegation.
The delegation informed Her Excellency the Ambassador about the Lions Club International Youth Exchange Camp in Denmark which has been operating since 2006. This year, there are 6 Thai youths participating in the project between 3-29 July 2023. They are staying with Danish host families and will alternate to stay in the camp with youths from 25 other countries to exchange language and cultural knowledge, as well as doing various activities together, such as volunteer activities in order to enhance life skills and open their mindsets to the world. The executives from three universities will also conclude an MOU with the Danish Lions Club to continue implementing the YCE project in Denmark and Europe.
On this occasion, Her Excellency the Ambassador discussed with the delegation about ways to promote educational cooperation with Denmark. Thai youths who participate in the Youth Camp in Denmark should have the opportunity to learn about Denmark's advances in various fields, in addition to cultural learning. The Ambassador also encouraged the network of 9 Rajamangala Universities of Technology in Thailand to establish cooperation with Danish universities of Technology in order to foster exchanges of teachers and students between them in the future.
