On 23 February 2024, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, together with Counsellor Jaya Patrachai, attended the opening of Danish Travel Show (Ferie for Alle Fair) 2024 at MCH Messecenter in Herning, the largest tourism fair in Scandinavia. Mr. Georg Sørensen, CEO of MCH, gave a welcoming remark to the guests and diplomatic corps. Mr. Hans Pilgaard, a Danish TV host, gave a speech about cruise tourism.
On such occasion, the Ambassador invited Mr. Sørensen and Mr. Pilgaard to visit the Thai tourism promotion booth, organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Stockholm Office, with participation from Thai Airways, tour agencies namely Asia Evolution and Check Point Travel, as well as Sea Sand Sun Resort and Villas Na Jomtien and Gassan Legacy Golf Club, joining the exhibition in the Thai booth as well. Inside the Thai booth, there were Thai dance performances and demonstration of Thai arts and culture, including demonstration of drawing a Phi Ta Khon masks and make ‘Spider-web Thung’. Through out the event, there were many visitors dropping by the Thai booth and asked for the information on package tour in Thailand.
Moreover, the Ambassador also watched the Thai performance "Thai Classical Dance"on the big stage at the event, which also attracted the attention of many audiences. In this occasion, the Ambassador also hosted a luncheon for the representatives of TAT and the performers at the Thai residence on 26 February 2024.
During 2023, there were 115,209 Danish tourists traveling to Thailand, an increase of 79% from 2022. Thailand continues to be a popular tourist destination for the Danes.
