On 5 December, 2023 the Band of the Royal Danish Life Guards performed the “Marsch Siamese” during the ceremonial of the Changing of the Guard in front of the Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen. This performance is a part of celebration of the Thai National Day. Her Excellency Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, and Mr. Theerakun Niyom, her spouse, along with the Embassy staff as well as a group of Thai people attended this event.

The “Marsch Siamese” was composed in 1890 by Mr. Hans Niel Hass, the Band Master of the Royal Danish Life Guards at the time, in honour of General Chaophraya Wongsanuprapat (Mom Rajawongse Satarn Snidvongs), Grandfather of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, who underwent military training and served in the Royal Danish Army during 1883-1892. The Marsch Siamese therefore symbolises the special and close bonds between Denmark and Thailand. This year the two countries celebrate the 165th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
