On 1 November 2021, at 17.00 hrs. Her Excellency Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, along with Mr. Theerakun Niyom, her spouse, attended the screening of the “The Rescue” documentary film at the Grand Teatret in Copenhagen. The film tells an incredible story of international cooperation in the mission to rescue 13 members of the Moo Pa (Wild Boar) Academy football team from Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non Cave in 2018.
After the screening, Mrs. Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, the film’s co-director, Mr. Thanet Nathisri, a Thai expert in groundwater management who played a pivotal role in diverting stream of floods away from the cave during the rescue mission, and Mr. Chris Jewell, one of the British cave divers on the rescue mission, participated in the Q&A session and shared their experiences from the mission. In this occasion, Her Excellency the Ambassador presented a bouquet of flowers to congratulate and praised the production crew for their impressive portrayal of this mission into the film to reflect the concerted efforts of various players both in Thailand and abroad, including two Danish cave divers, to overcome what seemed to be impossible challenges. She also invited audiences in the event to visit Thailand as the country reopens to fully vaccinated tourists with no quarantine requirements. Her Excellency the Ambassador, together with the production crew and those attended the screening, then joined a reception outside the theatre where Thai delicacies from the Royal Thai Embassy were served to more than 100 attendees comprising members of diplomatic corps, the Thai community and interested Danish public.
