On 12 March 2024, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denamak, and Mr. Theerakun Niyom, her spouse, hosted a dinner for Mr. Jens-Christian Lütken, Mayour of Employment and Integration Administration of the City of Copenhagen at the Ambassador’s Residence. The dinner was also attended by Ms. Heidi Wang, Member of the Copenhagen City Council, Mr. Hans Siegfredsen, Chairman of Danish-Thai Association, Mr. Søren Eriksen, Chairman of Rak Thai Association, Miss Wannida Samittiwat, Vice Chairman of Rak Thai Association, Ms. Khajornrat Mopor Larsen, President of Thai Nurses in Denmark 2023, Ms. Kattikkamart Paiboon Steiness, Treasurer of Thai Nurses in Denmark 2023, and Mr. Morten Aaberg Sørensen, Managing Director of Top Tour, together with Mr. Teerakarn Savetsila, Consul, and his spouse.

On this occasion, the Ambassador informed Mayor Lütken on how the Thai community has enjoyed good working environment and quality of life in Denmark. Thais are well-adjusted and have no difficulty integrating into the mainstream society. In this regard, the Ambassador thanked the Danish government and the Danish people for their hospitality and openness to all Thai nationals. Her Excellency also reiterated a strong confidence of the productive contribution offered by the Thai community to further the growth and prosperity of the city of Copenhagen and Denmark as a whole.

In addition, the Ambassador expressed gratitude toward Mayor Lütken, Copenhagen Municipality, and the representatives of “Friends of Thailand” for their close cooperation with the Embassy in organising a very successful Thai Festival in 2023 at Rådhuspladsen (City Hall Square). Her Excellency expressed confidence that the upcoming Thai Festival this June will be even more successful with the strong partnership and close collaboration between all parties.

In the same occasion, Mayor Lütken thanked the Ambassador and her spouse for the dinner and mentioned about the long-standing relations between Thailand and Denmark, especially the close friendships between the Royal Families of the two kingdoms, and the potential of cooperation between Copenhagen and Bangkok in a multitude of areas, specifically on innovation and green transition. Moreover, the Mayor discussed the evolution of Copenhagen as a world destination for great cuisines which was credited by the blend of local food culture and international food culture shared by foreign residents in Copenhagen, including Thai nationals. To this extent, the Thai community had a genuine positive impact which help Copenhagen to become a vibrant international city with colorful atmosphere and embedded multiculturalism.
