On 22 November 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen held a candle-lighting ceremony to commemorate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulayadej‘s 87th Birthday Anniversary at Hellerup Parkhotel. The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Ms. Vimon Kidchob, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, who was joined by Ms.Tapanee Phanusopon, Minister Counsellor (Commercial), and officials of the Embassy as well as Thai residents in Denmark and their families consisting of around 400-500 persons.

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has reigned since 9 June 1946, making him the world’s longest reigning monarch. The love and reverence the Thai people have for their King stem in large part from the moral authority His Majesty has earned during his reign, one that involves a remarkable degree of personal contact with the people. At the same time His Majesty has worked tirelessly to improve the well-being of the Thai people and has contributed to national advancement in public health, education, agricultural research, irrigation and environmental protection, among others. It is therefore no wonder that so many Thais in Denmark, many of them travelling from afar, had gather together to offer their blessings to their beloved King.
