On 23 October 2014, the Ambassador and officials of the Royal Thai Embassy paid their respects to King Chulalongkorn on the occasion of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Day by laying wreaths before his statutes at Wat Thai Denmark Brahmavihara and Asia House. The ceremony at the Asia House was also attended by Honorary Consul-General Carsten D. Nielsen and members of several Thai associations in Denmark.
23 October of every year is a national holiday in Thailand as it marks King Chulalongkorn Memorial Day which commemorates the passing away of King Chulalongkorn, otherwise known as King Rama V. King Chulalongkorn is considered as one of the greatest kings of Thailand. His reign from 1868 to 1910 was characterized by extensive social and economic development, including the abolition of slavery.
