Thailand hosted the Second Asia Pacific Water Summit in Chiang Mai on Monday 20^th May 2013. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra called on leaders in the Asian Pacific region to work together to address the issue of critical water management in the future.

Thailand has played and will continue to play an active role alongside the Asia Pacific community in taking steps to fight flooding and water related disasters. Thailand called for the world community to step forward the reduction and containment of pollutions, climate change and global warming and to provide all the Asians an access to clean water.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra also suggested that the Asia Pacific governments lay out effectual water management plans from upstream to middle stream areas at national, regional and global levels as well as create prompt, precise weather forecast and warning systems with the use of modern technology.
