Three cities in Thailand receive ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable Cities Awards

Ten cities across the ASEAN region were recently given ASEAN’s awards for excellence in environmental sustainability, including three cities in Thailand.

Chiang Rai in the Northern region received the ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable Cities Award 2014 for its excellence in green area management, Nakhon Sawan in the lower Northern region won the award for excellence in water management, while Roi Et in the North Eastern region received the award for excellence in waste and green area management.

ASEAN or Association of South East Asian Nations comprises of 10 nations namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
