His Majesty King Chulalongkorn is renowned for the modernization of Siam and the protection of Siamese sovereignty amid Western colonialism. He was the first Thai Monarch who had made two visits to Denmark in 1897 and 1907. The King’s historic visits to Denmark had strengthened the ties between the two royal families and provided a solid foundation for the cordial and close relationship between Thailand and Denmark at all levels up to the present day.
