On 6 September 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy, Copenhagen organized a special cooking demonstration by Chef Chumpol Jangprai, who was crowned Thailand’s Iron Chef during 2012-2018 and is the managing director and executive chef of the Michelin Star awarded RHAAN Wisdom of Thai Cuisine Restaurant in Bangkok, during an event held at the summer house of Mr. Rolandas Valiūnas, the Honorary Consul of Thailand to Lithuania.

In this occasion, Ms. Pratana Disyatat, Minister Counsellor as representative of His Excellency Mr. Vichit Chitvimarn, Ambassador of Thailand to Lithuania with residence in Copenhagen, delivered opening remarks to the cooking show which was a project initiated by the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen to further the knowledge and popularity of Thai cuisine in Lithuania, in accordance with the Thai Government’s policy to promote Thailand as the “Kitchen of the World”. The number of Lithuanian tourists visiting Thailand has risen during the past several years, numbering around 18,000 per year, and Thai food has become increasing popular in Lithuania. At present, there are some Thai dishes offered in many Asian restaurants and some Thai take-away shops, but there is still much potential for authentic Thai restaurants in Lithuania.   

Chef Chumpol Jangprai demonstrated how to cook Massaman Beef Curry, which is ranked #1 Best Food in the World by CNN Travel, and served two other signature Thai dishes namely Savoury Leaf Wraps in Crispy Pastry Shell and Sticky Rice with Mango to nearly 300 guests at the Reception.
