WHO CAN APPLY FOR E-VISA WITH THE ROYAL THAI EMBASSY, COPENHAGEN?

Residents of Denmark and Lithuania who currently residing in these countries may apply for e-visa with the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen through https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ . Proof of residency are required.

Important message:

1. If all the requirments are met, the processing time for all types the visa will be no longer than 15 working days. 
2. Please apply for your visa within 90 days of your travel date to Thailand. The E-visa system will delete any application which has not been approved by the Embassy within 90 days since the date of submission.

Those currently residing in other countries should contact the Royal Thai Embassy in their respective countries.

Nationals of Denmark and Lithuania who are currently traveling in Thailand cannot apply for e-visa with the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen through https://www.thaievisa.go.th/. They must contact the Thai Immigration Bureau for visa matters.

Nationals of Denmark and Lithuania who are currently traveling in other countries and wish to travel to Thailand cannot apply for e-visa with the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen. They may either enter Thailand under 60-day visa exemption scheme or contact the Royal Thai Embassy in the countries they are traveling in if they wish to stay in Thailand for longer than the visa exemption scheme allowed. If they wish to apply with the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, those nationals of Denmark and Lithuania must first return to their respective countries, i.e. Denmark and Lithuania, before applying.

 

Important Information regarding Visa Validity and Period of Stay

Please note the diffrence between Visa Validity and Period of Stay as follows.

  • "Visa Validity" refers to the period of time which the visa is valid and can be use to enter Thailand. 
  • "Period of Stay" refers to the amount of time a foreign national can reside in Thailand. This will depend on the type of visa granted.

For example, a tourist visa "TR" has a validity of 90 days and a perriod of stay of 60 days from the day that a foreign national enters Thailand.

Tourist Visa

With tourist visa, travellers are strictly prohibited to conduct in all kinds of work including volunteer work and internship.

1. Single Entry Tourist visa (60 days stay permit): Tourism and Leisure activities 

The single entry tourist visa has its validity of 3 months from the date of issue with the duration of 60 days stay permit. Travellers are allowed to apply for a thirty days extension of stay permit at the nearest Thai Immigration Office.

2. Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV)  

The Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) has a validity of 6 months from the date of issue and the duration of stay of up to 60 days per visit. You are advised to check the stamp of the immigration upon arrival.

DTV Visa (Destination Thailand Visa) - New
 

TV visa is a special type of visa for eligible foreign travellers as follows.

A. Workation which includes
    (1) Foreign talents
    (2) Free lancers 
    (3) Digital nomad/remote workers)

B. Paticipation in following activities which include
    (1) Muay Thai courses 
    (2) Thai Cooking classes
    (3) Sport trainings
    (4) Medical treatments (more than 60 days)
    (5) Training courses/seminars
    (6) Music Festivals (only as organizers of the event) 

C. Spuse and dependents children of DTV holders

The visa has its validity of 5 years from the date of issue with the duration of 180 days stay permit. Travellers are allowed to apply for a one-time 180-day extension of stay permit at the nearest Thai Immigration Office.

After the maximum stay of 180 days + extra 180 days, DTV holders must depart Thailnd and re-enter thecountry with the same DTV visa within the visa validity date.

1. Multiple Entry DTV visa : Workation

Transit Visa
 

Transit Visa : Transit (stopover longer than 12 hours)

Applicants may apply for a visa between 1 - 4 entries based upon thier travel schedules. The 1-entry transit visa has its validity of 3 months from the date of issue. The 2/3/4-entry transit visa has its validity of 6 months from the date of issue.

1. Non-Immigramt O : To stay with Thai family residing in Thailand (more than 60 days)

This single entry visa has its validity of 3 months from the date of issue with the duration of 90 days stay permit. Travellers are allowed to apply for a thirty days extension of stay permit at the nearest Thai Immigration Office.

This single entry tourist visa has its validity of 3 months from the date of issue with the duration of 90 days stay permit. Travellers are allowed to apply for a thirty days extension of stay permit at the nearest Thai Immigration Office.

3. Non-Immigramt O : Thai Nationals who abandoned Thai citizenship

Applicants who were formerly Thai citizens and currently holding other citizenship can also apply for a Non-Immigrant visa.

This single entry tourist visa has its validity of 3 months from the date of issue with the duration of 90 days stay permit. Travellers are allowed to apply for a thirty days extension of stay permit at the nearest Thai Immigration Office.

NON-O (retirement)

Non-Immigramt O : Retirement (pensioner aged 50 or above with state/private pension who wishes to stay in Thailand for no longer than 90 days) 

The applicant must be over the age of 50 and retired. Those who are above 50 but have not yet retired can not apply for this type of visa; they are advised to apply for the O-A visa, instead.

This single entry tourist visa has its validity of 3 months from the date of issue with the duration of 90 days stay permit. Travellers are allowed to apply for a thirty days extension of stay permit at the nearest Thai Immigration Office.

NON-OA (1 year)

This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and over who wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 1 year without the intention of working. Holder of this type of visa is allowed to stay in Thailand for 1 year. Employment of any kind is strictly prohibited. 

Qualifications of an applicant:

  • Not being prohibited from entering the Kingdom under the Immigration Act. B.E. 2522.
  • Having the nationality of or the residence in the country where his/ her application is submitted.
  • Having no criminal record against the security of Thailand and the country of his/her nationality, or the country of his/her residence.
  • Not having prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14 B.E. 2535 (Leprosy, Tuberculosis [T.B], Elephantiasis, Drug addiction, Alcoholism, 3rd step of syphilis).

  • Proof of Thai health insurance that covers the whole duration of stay in Thailand. The health insurance policy must have coverage not less than 100,000.- USD (3,000,000.- THB) per policy. Applications can submit either the copy of the health insurance policy or the original one (if available) and Print out this Foreign Insurance Certificate to be filled and signed by the insurance company.   • Proof of your accommodation in Thailand: A Copy of hotel reservation/ rental contract/deed. In case of residing with a family, an invitation from the host family along with a copy of their undersigned Thai ID or house registration is required.   • Bank Statement showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 THB (160,000 DKK) or an original payslip with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 THB, or a deposit account plus a monthly income totally not less than 800,000 THB. In case of submitting a bank statement, a letter of guarantee from the bank (an original copy) is required.

 

NON-OX (5 years)

Purpose of Visit 

This type of visa may be issued to applicants who are over 50 years of age and over and wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 10 years without the intention of working. Holder of this type of visa is allowed to stay in Thailand for 5 years each time with the possibility of an extension of up to 5 years at the Royal Thai Immigration Bureau (total 10 years). 

Qualifications of an applicant:

  • Applicants must be at least 50 years of age and above (on the day of submitting the application). 
  • Applicants must be nationals and passport holders of eligible countries, namely; Japan, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. 
  • Applicants must have a bank deposit of no less than 3 million Baht in Thailand OR a bank deposit in Thailand of no less than 1.8 million Baht and an annual income of no less than 1.2 million Baht. Such amount must be maintained in bank deposit in full for at least one year and at no less than 1.5 million Baht thereafter.  
  • Applicants must have a Thai health insurance for the duration of stay, with coverage for outpatient treatment of no less than 40,000 Baht and inpatient treatment of no less than 400,000 Baht. The Thai health insurance can be obtained via http://longstay.tgia.org  
  • Applicants must be Danish nationals or nationals of the above-mentioned eligible countries with permanent residence permit in Denmark. 
  • Applicants not prohibited from entering the Kingdom as provided by the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979). 
  • Having no criminal record in Thailand and the country of the applicant’s nationality and residence. 
  • Not having prohibitive diseases such as Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, and third phase of Syphilis as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14 B.E.2535. 

Validity of Visa: Multiple entries with the validity of visa of 5 years 

Period of Stay: Travelers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period of 5 years each time with the possibility of an extension of up to 5 years at the Royal Thai Immigration Bureau (total 10 years).  

 

 

 NON-Immigrant B (Updated)

1. Non-Immigrant B: Business visit (attending a conference, meetings and visiting business partners)

Applicants who wish to travel to Thailand for a business purpose such as attending a conference should apply for Non-Immigrant B visa. A single entry visa valids for 3 months. and a multiple-entry visa valid for 1 years.

2. Non-Immigrant B: Frequent Business visits

Applicants who wish to travel to Thailand for frequent business visits should apply for Non-Immigrant B: Frequent Business visits. This is a multiple entry visa with a validity of 3 years

 Required Documents

  • Photograph taken within the last six months
  • Proof of the permanent residence in the country where the application is submitted
  • Financial evidence: amount of no less than 3,000,000 THB
  • Document proving business credentials: (1) proof of frequent business visit in Thailand, (2) proof of employment in their country, or (3) certification document from credible trade/business associations in the country of residence. Where applicable, the document should be signed by authorized person or notarized by relevant agencies

3. Non-Immigrant B: Employment (working in Thailand)

If you have been given a job offer in Thailand or the company you are currently employed is transferring you to their sister company in Thailand, it is necessary that you apply for a single entry Non-Immigrant B visa before entering the Kingdom. This visa allows the applicant to stay and work in Thailand for 90 days. During the stay, the applicant must contact the Thai Immigration Service within 30 days after arrival and apply for an extension of the stay permit. The applicant must also obtain a work permit at the Ministry of Labour

NOTE: Should the applicant wish to relocate to Thailand with their spouse and/or children, the accompanying family members need to apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa. The following documents are required for the accompanying family members along with the following documents.

 

5. Non-Immigrant B: Non-Curicular Internship

Applicants who wish to travel to Thailand for a Non-Curicular Internship should apply for Non-Immigrant B: Frequent Business visits. This is a single entry visa with a validity of 3 months

If you have been given a job offer in Thailand as an academic staff/teacher in Thailand, it is necessary that you apply for a single entry Non-Immigrant B visa before entering the Kingdom. This visa allows the applicant to stay and work in Thailand for 90 days. During the stay, the applicant must contact the Thai Immigration Service within 30 days after arrival and apply for an extension of the stay permit. The applicant must also obtain a work permit at the Ministry of Labour

Applicant who intend to visit Thailand for employment or business visits with a company registerred in Thailand under the supoort of Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) should apply for this type of visa.

Non-ED (Updated)

All visa types are a single entry with a validity of 3 months

1. Non-Immigrant ED: Studying at a Thai or an International School in Thailand (completing secondary or high school)

Non-Immigramt ED PLUS (Updated)

Non-Immigrant ED PLUS: Studying in Bachelor Degree's or Higher 

The visa is is a single entry with a validity of 3 months. This type of visa is for the applicants who will study and graduate from a university/an education institution in Thailand.
Those who are only an exchange student for 1 semester or more should apply for a Non-ED internship (Curricular Internship) - see above.

Non-Immigrant O for Voluntary Work (Updated)

Applicants who wish to conduct a voluntary work in Thailand can only apply for a single entry Non-Immigrant O visa which allows him/her to stay in Thailand for 90 days. Should the work period exceed 90 days, applicants must contact the Thai Immigration Service and apply for an extension of the stay permit.

1. Voluntary work with government agency /state enterprise (without salary)

3. Voluntary work with foreign foundation or association with permission to operate in Thailand (without salary)

Required Documents

  • Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document
  • Photograph taken within the last six months
  • Document indicating current location
  • Financial evidence: amount of no less than 30,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter
  • Letter confirming voluntary work by foreign foundation or association with permission to operate in Thailand
  • Proof of permission to operate in Thailand together with copy of passport and work permit of the signer

SMART VISA 

The SMART Visa, which will come into effect on 1 February 2018, will encourage foreign talents and investors to invest in the 10 targeted industries of Thailand. It is hoped that it will enhance knowledge transfer and increase the competitiveness of Thailand in the global economy.
 
The SMART Visa is a new type of visa specially designed to encourage highly-skilled professionals and talents to work or invest in the 10 targeted S-Curve industries, namely (1) next-generation automotive, (2) smart electronics, (3) affluent, medical and wellness tourism, (4) agriculture and biotechnology, (5) food for the future, (6) robotics, (7) aviation and logistics, (8) biofuels and biochemicals, (9) digital, and (10) medical hub.
 
The four categories of people who are eligible to apply for SMART Visa are

(1) Talent

(2) Investor

(3) Executive

(4) Startup and

(5) Others (i.e. legal dependents, namely spouse and children, if any).

The SMART Visa provides more benefits and privileges than any other types of visa. These benefits include:

(1) Visa validity up to 4 years (instead of the usual 1 year)
(2) No requirement of work permit
(3) Extension of reporting of stay to Immigration Bureau – from every 90-day to every year
(4) The right of legal dependents (spouse and children) of the SMART Visa holder to live and work in Thailand equivalent to SMART visa holder (only SMART T type allows dependents of SMART Visa holder to work in Thailand).
