The Royal Thai Embassy is proud to announce the launch of the “Thai Elephants in Denmark” Youth Art Competition.
The year 2026 marks the 25th Anniversary of the arrival of Ton Sak, Kangrao, and Surin—our beloved Thai elephants, which have become symbols of the enduring diplomatic bond between our two Kingdoms. In 2001, Ton Sak and Kangrao arrived at Copenhagen Zoo, as the Royal gifts of HM King Rama IX and HM Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, while Surin later followed as a gift from the people of Surin province.
These elephants not only represent a unique bridge of longstanding friendship but also stand as a living legacy of the exemplary care provided by Copenhagen Zoo, home to several Thai elephants, including offspring Mun.
The Competition We invite children under 18 residing in Denmark to express their creativity while learning about elephant conservation, animal welfare, and the enduring friendship between Thailand and Denmark.
