Five provinces of Thailand, namely Phuket, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Sukhothai and Phetchaburi, have been registered as creative cities for food, local handicrafts and designs from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
 
@ Phuket Province was registered as a Creative Culinary City in 2015. Phuket has a long history of culinary tradition and intergenerational cultural interchange which can contribute more than $3.6 billion to the local economy each year.
 
@ Chiang Mai Province was registered as a creative city for handicrafts and folk arts in 2017. Throughout the past several years, Chiang Mai has continued to support the craft industry which has been long transmitted culture, including ceramics, silverware, wood carving, silk embroidery and lacquerware. Currently, Chiang Mai is the main source of employment for the handicraft industry of 159 entrepreneurs.
@ Bangkok was registered as a creative design city in 2019. Bangkok has a diverse population. There is a mix of traditional and new aesthetics, evolving the design of the city through craftsmen, entrepreneurs and creative manufacturing communities that exist throughout the city.
 
@ Sukhothai Province was registered as a creative city for handicrafts and folk arts in 2019. Sukhothai has a long heritage of traditional arts and crafts. With more than 1,300 people employed in the area, it serves as a hub for the production of crafts such as weaving, gold and silver jewelry, pottery, and chinaware. The craftsmanship showcases historical knowledge and upgrades Sukhothai's economy.
 
@ Phetchaburi Province was registered as a creative food city in 2021. Phetchaburi is renowned for its top-notch ingredients due to its rich ecosystem and biodiversity. There are traditional recipes of the community and the merging of tradition with modern economic development which make local food be adapted to become more widespread at the national and global levels.
