On 22 September 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen organized the Taste of Thailand reception at the Thai Residence. Chef Chumpol Jangprai, the owner of R-HAAN Restaurant which has been awarded 2-Michelin stars for four consecutive years, was invited to prepare Thai specialties from 5 regions to be served to the participants, including Khao Soi Nuea (Beef Curry Noodles) from the North, Kaeng Khiao Wan (Green Curry) from the Central region, Phad Mee Korat (Korat’s Stir-fried Noodle) and Som Tam Kai Yang (Papaya salad with grilled chicken) from the Northeast, Kanom Jeen Namya Pu (Southern Style Crab Curry with rice noodle) from the South, and Chanthaburi rice noodles with crab from the East. Mango sticky rice, Khanom Mor Kaeng (Thai custard), and Khanom Chan (Thai layer cake) were also served as desserts, while Shrimp bread sand Khao Tang Na Tang (Thai rice crackers with coconut dip) were served as snacks. In addition, Chef Chumpol demonstrated the preparation of a Thai dish “Larb Kua (Spicy pork salads)” for the guests to watch and taste.
 
The event was organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in cooperation with La Chaîne des Rotisseurs in Denmark. H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, gave an opening remark together with Mr. Jørgen Krenk, President of La Chaîne des Rotisseurs. The Ambassador mentioned about Thai cuisine which has evolved over the centuries until it has a unique identity in terms of the harmony of all flavours and the aroma of herbs and spices from diverse cuisines in each region of the country.
 
The event was also supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Thai Trade Center in Copenhagen. There were booths serving Thai cocktails from the SILPIN brand, which presented an innovative syrup scent with a Thai identity, as well as Singha beer, booths promoting Thai tourism, and demonstrations of making gold-printed cloth bags. There were Thai music and Khon performances by the Moradok Mai Community Theatre, founded by Mr. Janaprakul Chandruang or “Kru Chang”, a Thai national artist in Performing Arts (Film and Drama) in 2019, a demonstration of Thai boxing and Thai traditional dance performed by the Siam Smile Group, as well as the distribution of Thai souvenirs such as Thai curry paste, recipes from five regions of Thailand, pins with pictures of tourist attractions in Thailand, and brochures promoting Thai tourism, to approximately 90 guests, including members of La Chaîne des Rotisseurs, the diplomatic corps, representatives from the government and private sectors in Denmark, and the Friends of Thailand.
