Thailand has been recognized as a frontrunner in promoting gender equality in the corporate world, achieving third place globally for the highest representation of women in senior management roles. This distinction comes from a comprehensive survey by Grant Thornton with Thailand striking an admirable 41% of senior executive positions occupied by women.
The survey, conducted in the last quarter of 2023, involved nearly 5,000 medium-sized companies across continents, focusing on major roles from CEO to finance department head.
The achievement highlights Thailand's dedication to fostering an inclusive business environment and sets a precedent for gender parity in leadership. Thailand also leads the surveyed nations with the highest percentage of female CEOs and managing directors, a remarkable shift towards equal representation in the corporate sector.
Grant Thornton noted that the presence of ASEAN countries (Philippines, Thailand,Malaysia and Indonesia) in the top ten signals gender diversity in corporate leadership in Southeast Asia, positioning the region as a global exemplar of gender equality in leadership.
