In a significant shift, Thailand's Ministry of Public Health has officially restricted cannabis use exclusively to medical purposes, rolling out new regulations aimed at preventing misuse and ensuring its benefits are channeled solely for health.

Under the revised framework, medical access requires an authorized prescription, limited to a 30-day supply. Patients must obtain their cannabis through a licensed medical professional for individual treatment.

Key restrictions implemented to enforce this medical-only focus effective from 26 June 2025 include:
●Restricted Sales Points: Sales are now limited to doctors and licensed medical professionals.

●No Automated or Online Sales: The purchase of cannabis from vending machines or through online platforms has been banned.

●Advertising Prohibition: All forms of cannabis advertising are now forbidden.

●Designated No-Sale Zones: Selling cannabis is prohibited in temples, dormitories, public parks, zoos, and fun parks.

These comprehensive measures aim to prevent the misuse of cannabis and ensure its benefits are channeled solely for medical purposes.
