On 22 May 2024, Her Excellency Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark took the delegation from the Standing Order Committee of the House of Representatives of Thailand, led by Mr. Prasert Boonruang, Chairman of the Committee to visit the Danish Parliament (Folketinget). The delegation was welcomed by H.E. Mr. Søren Gade, the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Leif Lahn Jensen, the First Deputy Speaker, Mr. Jens Teilberg Søndergaard, Deputy Secretary-General in charge of the Parliamentary Division, and Mr. Anton Høj Jacobsen, Senior Legal Adviser.
Mr. Søren Gade, in his welcoming remarks to the delegation, mentioned about the relationship between Denmark and Thailand which has existed for more than 400 years. He also talked about his travel experience to Thailand with the impression of the beauty and culture of the country as well as the taste of Thai cuisine. He said that Thailand is a popular destination for Danish tourists which helped promote the close relationship. He was pleased to have the opportunity to exchange views about the parliamentary system of both sides.
On the same occasion, Mr. Prasert Boonruang thanked the Speaker of the Danish Parliament for welcoming the delegation. He said that Denmark is a model of democracy with one of the world's happiest citizens, the delegation therefore wished to visit Denmark to exchange knowledge about models of parliamentary management. After that Mr. Jacobsen gave a briefing on the core principles of the Danish constitutional system, elections and composition of the Danish parliament, administrative and political structure of parliament, as well as information on the Standing Order Committee of the Danish Parliament. He then led the delegation to tour around the Parliament including the Chamber where the delegation had a chance to observe the parliamentary meeting.
