The Royal Thai Embassy received a painting of Thai Temple from Mr. Peder Jorgensen

On 30 August, 2022, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark received an oil painting “View From a Thai Temple” from Mr. Peder Jorgensen. The painting was painted by Harrop Frederick Samuel, a famous English painter who lived during the years 1887 – 1947. On this occasion, Her Excellency the Ambassador hosted a luncheon for Mr. Jorgensen at the Thai Ambassador's Residence.
 
Mr. Jorgensen, 87 year-old, is a Missionary Emeritus who spent 22 years in Thailand between 1962-1971 and 1983-1995 and devoted himself to help the poor in rural areas in the central and north-eastern regions of Thailand. He was the founder of a hospital and leprosy rehabilitation center in Nakhon Sawan Province and established “Ban Immanuel” as an educational institution for bright children of the poor in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Mr. Jorgensen was the publisher of the book “The Royal Siamese Provincial Gendarmerie” based on the memoirs of Major Erik Seidenfaden, a Danish Captain of the Royal Siamese Gendarmerie who lived in Thailand from 1906 to 1947. He also helped promote Thai tourism by introducing Danish travel agents to various regions in Thailand. Mr. Jorgensen received the Friends of Thailand award in 2010 from the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
