The Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen recently organised the event “Thai-Danish Pride: Celebrating Equality & Innovation” as part of Copenhagen Pride Week 2025, marking Thailand’s historic milestone in the adoption of the Marriage Equality Law. The event was organized on 13 August 2025 at the Huset-KBH aimed to promote equality of rights, diversity, inclusion, as well as foster dialogue and best practices between Thailand and Denmark on advancing society and its economic impacts from innovations.
The programme began with welcoming remarks by H.E. Mrs. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, followed by opening remarks from Mr. Steve Taylor, Head of Secretariat of Copenhagen Pride.

The panel discussion then featured distinguished panelists including H.E. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, who highlighted Thailand’s progress on human rights with the passage of the Marriage Equality Law. She underlined how inclusive legislation is not only a moral imperative but also boosts economic growth through tourism, fosters innovation, and attracts international investment. Ms. Anouska Wage, Employer Branding Manager of KPMG Denmark and Co-Founder of Queerspace, spoke about how inclusive workplaces foster innovation and competitiveness, sharing KPMG’s experience with its Queerspace network as an example of the “Rainbow Economy” in action. Mrs. Lene Magrethe Hellum, Director of Reden International, drew attention to the challenges still faced by vulnerable women and LGBTQ+ individuals, stressing the need for intersectional, rights-based support systems to ensure dignity and protection for all.
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Shinny Pimlapas Leekitcharoenphon, senior researcher at DTU, who also served as the MC and ensured a lively and thought-provoking exchange of ideas.

The event was well attended by members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from Danish organisations and private sectors, as well as students, members of the Thai community in Denmark and international participants attending Pride Week. Their participation contributed to a rich and engaging exchange of perspectives.

Following the panel discussion, guests enjoyed “Culinary with Pride”, a Thai tasting experience prepared specially for the occasion, featuring Thai refreshments and flavourful snacks, symbolising the vibrancy of diversity. The Embassy expresses its sincere appreciation to all speakers, panelists, partners, and guests whose participation contributed to the success of the event and reaffirmed the shared commitment of Thailand and Denmark to equality and human rights.
