TACDA and NRCT Present “Imprinted Heritage: The Art of Thai Lanna’s Lantern”
A Contemporary Reinterpretation of Thai Lanna Art and Craftsmanship
Copenhagen, Denmark – April 15, 2025 – The Thai Art and Craft Development Association (TACDA), in collaboration with the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), is delighted to unveil Imprinted Heritage: The Lanna’s Lantern, an exhibition celebrating Thai Lanna heritage art. The event will take place from April 15–17, 2025, at Asia House, Copenhagen, showcasing traditional Thai craftsmanship through a modern artistic lens.
Bridging Tradition and Contemporary Art: The exhibition aims to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Northern Thailand, demonstrating how local wisdom, intricate craftsmanship, and artistic techniques have been passed down through generations. The Paper Chiseling Lantern, a symbol of Lanna artistry, will be the exhibition’s centerpiece, alongside contemporary interpretations that integrate fashion, architecture, and modern design.
Curated by Assoc. Prof. Namfon Laistrooglai, a respected textile expert, the exhibition will showcase collaborative works between Lanna artisans and international artists. By incorporating multicultural influences, the exhibition redefines heritage art as a foundation for new creative expressions rather than a relic of the past.
“Imprinted Heritage: The Art of Thai Lanna’s Lantern” invites visitors to experience the richness of Thai Lanna artistry while exploring its potential for contemporary reinvention. By bridging tradition with modern creativity, the exhibition aims to inspire new perspectives on cultural heritage and its role in global design. Join us at Asia House, Copenhagen, from April 15-17, 2025, to witness how Lanna craftsmanship continues to evolve, preserving its legacy while embracing the future.
