The Royal Thai Embassy in ​​Copenhagen invited Danish food and agriculture experts to visit Thailand

The Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, in collaboration with the Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) and the National Food Institute of Thailand, invited two experts from Denmark, namely Mr. Niels Peter Noerring, Climate Director of Danish Agricultural & Food Council (DAFC), and Assistant Professor Mahesha Manjunatha Poojary from the Department of Food Science, University of Copenhagen (UCPH FOOD), to visit Thailand as speakers in the Project to promote cooperation and develop potential in food technology and innovation between Thailand and Denmark, which was held on 10 July 2024 at the Bureau of Teacher and Vocational Personnel Competency Development in Bangkok. There were approximately 70 participants from the OVEC executives, civil servants, teachers, and OVEC personnel. The speakers gave lectures on the topics of Technology for developing alternative protein products from plants and insects, meal design technology and consumption behaviour analysis, food waste management, and carbon reduction in the food sector, as well as increasing agricultural productivity without harming the environment.
 
On 11 July 2024, the National Food Institute of Thailand arranged for speakers to give lectures in the Thailand Retail, Food & Hospitality Services (TRAFS) event at BITEC Bangna Convention Center in the topic of Circular Economy and Sustainability in The Food Industry. The speakers shared their knowledges about Danish researches and innovations in plant-based food production and progress in climate action, technologies and innovations related to sustainable food production, efficient water management, and the use of renewable energy. The lectures were attended by interested people from the Thai food industry and TRAFS’ visitors.
 
In addition, on 12 July 2024, the speakers were invited to give a lecture at the food innovation seminar “Harnessing Sustainability in the Food Sector: A Pathway to Progress”, organized at Chulalongkorn University by the Office of Research Affairs and Chula Unisearch in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Program in Technology Management and Innopreneurship (CU TIP) Graduate School, with approximately 50 participants.
 
This project aimed to increase cooperation between Thailand and Denmark. It can be extended to personnels of Thai agencies, students, and Thai entrepreneurs in order to gain knowledge on eco-friendly agricultural and food technologies and innovations, as well as to further develop new innovations that will increase Thailand's competitiveness in the global market.
