On 4th October 2023, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, Mrs. Orn Doungchan, Director of TAT Stockholm Office, and Ms. Krittika Rojanasap, Deputy Director of TAT Stockholm Office, attended the Danish Travel Awards 2023, which is one of Denmark's largest and the most prestigious annual award ceremony in the Danish travel industry since 1996. This year, there was approximately 500 attendees and a total of 24 tourism awards given out in 3 categories: aviation and travel, hotel and tourism in Denmark, and travel agencies abroad. In each category, the winners were chosen from a survey of 3,000 Danish consumers, which was conducted by Danish analysis institute Epinion using Netpromotor score method.

This year, Thailand was the first time rewarded the "Best travel country outside Europe", which Australia and South Africa were also nominated in the same category. The Ambassador and Director were the representatives of Thailand to receive the awards and thank the organizers for voting Thailand where tourism has recovered remarkably after the pandemic. From January to September 2023, there have been more than 19 million tourists entering to Thailand, and only the first half of this year, more than 80,000 Danish tourists have travelled to Thailand, which is more than the whole of last year. Thailand is ready to welcome more tourists from Denmark, especially for the upcoming winter tourist season, to experience the incredible charm of the Land of Smiles.

The Ambassador thanked the attendees who came to congratulate and confirmed that Thailand is the number one of the most popular tourist destinations outside Europe for Danish people.
