On September 22, 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, together with Danish-Thai Business Network (Dan Thai Net), organized a business forum “The Prime Gateway to Asia: Thailand's Investment Opportunities in Bio-Circular-Green Model” at the Royal Thai Embassy. H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, gave the opening remarks which informed the participants of Thailand’s strategies of driving the country with the BCG Economy Model, the economic status of Thailand after recovering from the COVID-19 outbreak and the importance of Thailand as a hub for trade and investment in the region. Speakers in the event were 1) H.E. Mrs. Nongnuth Phetcharatana, a former Ambassador of Thailand to Austria and Germany and a Special Advisor of the Office of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) of Thailand, who gave updated information about infrastructures and BCG clusters development to support foreign investment with special business and investment benefits in the EEC. 2) Ms. Nathareekon Saesubak, Nordic Director, Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) Stockholm Office, discussed about investment promotion policy of Thailand and types of economic activities to be promoted, especially in industries related to the BCG Economy Model, as well as tax and non-tax incentives for investors. 3) Mr. Claus Ramussen, Former Head of HR Pandora Thailand, talked about how to do business in Thailand from an employer perspective, and 4) Mr. Michael Bremerskov Jensen, Director of International Trade, Danish Chamber of Commerce (Dansk Erhverv), discussed about overview, potentials and collaboration of Danish businesses development and growth in Denmark and Thailand.
Following that, Mr. Stiig Waever, founder of the Danish-Thai Business Network, introduced and officially launched the network which is a trade and investment network for Danish entrepreneurs who are interested in doing business and investing in Thailand as well as for sharing knowledge, experiences and giving advice on doing business in Thailand, especially with SMEs businessmen. After this forum, they plan to organize a business trip to take a group of Danish businessmen interested in investment opportunities in Thailand to visit Thailand in February or March 2023.
The seminar was attended by approximately 30 people from various business such as food industry and agriculture, mining and cement industry, water technology, automotive technology and construction technology. The event was also attended by representatives from Danish business academies namely Zealand Business College International (ZBC), Copenhagen Business School (CBS) , the Center for Science & Commercial Diplomacy (CSCD) as well as a representative from the Copenhagen Council. After the seminar, the Royal Thai Embassy also hosted a Thai lunch for the participants.
